DP&L Travel Ltd is looking to recruit an organised and enthusiastic individual to help drive our Travel Management Business. Due to increased demand this is a newly created position. This position would be an excellent opportunity for a recent Graduate or Administrator to join a fast-growing business with opportunity to progress their career. The successful candidate will be enrolled into our Trainee Development Programme and will receive full training on the requirements of the sector and its industry specific software tools.

The Role: Trainee Travel Consultant

Location: Dundee

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised individual to join our travel management team. In this role, you will be responsible, with appropriate supervision and support, for managing all aspects of business travel for corporate clients, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and seamless travel arrangements that meet client preferences and their company policies.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Book domestic and international flights, hotels, car rentals, and other travel services for corporate clients.
  • Ensure all travel bookings comply with client travel policies and budgets.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of travel regulations and visa requirements.
  • Monitor changes in travel plans and provide timely support for rebooking, cancellations, and emergency adjustments.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and travel suppliers.
  • Manage travel itineraries, confirmations, invoices, and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • On completion of your training programme, join our on-call team rotation to provide 24/7 support for all travellers when necessary, including VIPs and those with time-sensitive needs.
  • Advise clients on best travel options, including cost-saving opportunities and loyalty programs.
  • Keep accurate records of all travel transactions and assist with reporting and reconciliation tasks.
  • Stay informed about travel industry trends, new booking tools, and technology solutions.
  • Support the setup of new corporate clients on our online booking systems, making sure their travel preferences and company policies are correctly added.
  •  Help review online bookings to check that details are correct and follow each clients travel guidelines.
  • Assist clients with basic questions or issues when using the online booking tools, and work with the team to solve any problems that come up.
  • Learn how our online systems work so you can gradually take on more responsibility and help improve the booking experience.
  • Work closely with the team to make sure everything runs smoothly for clients booking their travel online.

 

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a service-related sector or job.
  • Strong interest in travel and good geographical knowledge.
  • Strong computer skills, especially use of search engines.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and handle high-pressure situations.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required.
  • Can do attitude and passionate about their work.
